G&T. Good gin, but not great - Tanqueray is my usual. Now and then, i like a martini - this does warrant top-shelf gin though. Other simple favorites: bourbon and cranberry juice, manhattan, yellow cake martini (not actually anything close to a martini, but a good not-too-sweet fruity drink), and the venerable mint julep (but only if made with fresh mint, and easy on the sugar). My wife likes mojitos.

Buzz Killington? I'm clearly missing some reference here.

When you've had a sufficient amount of alcohol, before you get drunk you get a sense of euphoria termed the "buzz". Its great. So.. Mr. Buzz Killing-ton... get it? Someone that kills your buzz.

We had wild mint bushes growing outside our house last summer. We'd get home from work, I'd break out the rum and we'd sit mixing cocktails in the sun on our deck chairs with fresh mint. Only thing that comes close is a beer on a boat while fishing on a hot summers day.

None. I don't drink. Heck, I consume something like 2 aerated drinks a year.

Doesn't it just ruin the apple juice? Vodka and apple juice would be better... sort of... :) (I only drink bourbon if I am very drunk and then only if even the Budweiser has been finished. A drink of last resort.)

Yeah, i keep mint plants growing around my house; they're tasty... and really, really hard to kill, even if i go a week without looking up from my computer screen to water them. Good for sun tea as well as the mixers. And chiffonade mint sprinkled on a dollop of sour cream atop a creamy bowl of lentil stew is fantastic...

Have you had good bourbon? See if you can get a taste of Woodford Reserve. Two fingers over a single ice cube, sipped slowly with a good conversation chaser.

Yep, a good one goes a long way. Not sure I really have a favorite but Mojito, Pisco Sour, and Manhattan are at the top of the list of mixed drinks for me.

This thread started with the OP extolling his love of mojitos. I can't really be worried about my reputation as a man if i bothered to reply at all... ;)

Is that name an ironic reference to Yellow Cake Uranium?

No, but the association is why i like the name and remember the drink. ;) The mixture is equal parts vanilla vodka (or vodka with a drop of vanilla extract), amaretto, and pineapple juice. The taste is reminiscent of a pineapple upside-down cake.
