Jokes on the News Page

I sure wish "The Code Project" would hire a real joke writer to write the jokes placed in the News area. What is placed there now is really bad! Do it right, or don't do it at all. X|

Totally disagree. Understanding jokes is a bit difficult for those whose native language is not English, like me, but not only I understand most of them I sometimes laugh out so loud that people around my room ask what's the matter?! Like this one: Gates: Windows 7 will "take less memory, be more efficient" Don't worry, no one is listening to him anymore :-D Further than that writing a joke for a news several times a day should not be easy and I don't expect to read best of them everyday. Many times I thought how to give the writer my feedback and thank him?

He gets flak and praise in equal amounts and has the hardest job in the world: provide interesting relevant news that isn't simply regurgitating a company's press releases while providing commentary that puts things in perspective. Kent worked at Microsoft for years (he used to sneak us into Building 42) so is intimately familiar with the Microsoft space and even the guys who write the stuff. And he's so nice and shy that you just want to give him a hug.

Sure! He has to consider several things at the same time: relevancy, easy to understand, funny enough and meaningful. I sometimes just read the line and understand the point of the whole article and ignore reading a large text. He does a nice job. I like it, I shall tell him. Thanks for the email address.
