I assume you are running something with RJ45. In that case, is your cable a crossover cable?

Hmm, sounds like an RS 232 port.

              Null modem cable perhaps?

OK, I looked at your profile: "I am studying B.Tech Information Technology 2nd year in MNM Jain Engineering College. I am very interested in Programming, especially visual programming. Even one of my hobby is programming, even though i play games most of the times" So although you are a second year student you are actually useless and spend the whol etime playing games. Tell you wht, why dont you take all your computers and give themn to someone who can use them. Then get a job in a factory putting lids on jars or something because thats all you are good for.

With gigabit this will not be necessary since they auto crossover but anything less you will need a crossover cable for a direct pc-pc connection.

Interesting, I didnt know they did that, I was allways wondering why el cheapo card didnt have this ability, as most hubs are auto sensing anyways.

The thread is 'Operating Systems/SysAdmin' only. I believe, as I read this, an administrator has moved the thread from elsewhere to here.
