The number is around 9,500 authors with legit articles. 9,500 people have posted an article here. I think that's a stunning number of authors!

    cheers, Chris Maunder

Yeah, I started clicking on the one-article authors and most of them came up with 0 articles being found. And admittedly, 9500 article authors is an impressive number, but when you compare that to the number of registered users, it is a mere drop in a really huge bucket.

Better to have a few write good ones than have to sift through lots of rubbish to find anything useful.

We will be adding this feature. The issue for us is finding the time to trawl the old IIS logs we have. There's hundreds of Gig's worth

The sifting still needs to be done.

perhaps it's time to pen key an article. only the thing i'd write is on is this big ole inventory management system im building which really...isn't all that awesome, it's just completley dynamic...but maybe someone would use it... i even thought about calling it an "Inventory and Booking System" IBS ;P no i have no idea why that got voted 1...too bad we can't see who did it ;P

I haven't written an article yet, or even posted a message until this one, as I haven't had anything useful to add. Maybe once I write some software that hasn't already got a mountain of (good) information on the subject... until then I'll stay in the shadows.

I never said I wanted more. I was just illustrating the difference between the number of people posting articles, and the number of registered users. Just 0.002 percent of the population have submitted articles.

Now knock it down for the number of competant authors (add a couple of 0s in front of the 2) and you probably have a fair estimation of the author/population ratio. You seem to assume that a fair % of people can write articles, I would strongly disagree, writing is an art and that includes technical writing (maybe especially). Nope I'll stay out here as a fluffy lurker thank you.

Fewer than 10,500 users have posted at least one article here. I wonder how many of those were relegated to purgatory and are still being counted.

Nowhere did I say that I thought everyone (or even a reasonably high percentage) could or should write an article. I was just putting numbers up there. Like I said - it's an interesting demographic.
