Firebug (again)

A while back I raved about this. Well, I'm raving again.:) In the future (e.g., at a client that doesn't let me run Firefox) I'll feel naked without it.

Ditto. It's just as bad when you're trying to get a page to render correctly in IE. IEWebDev toolbar just isn't in the same league as Firebug's (free) DOM editor.

You could always run Firefox Portable[^] with firebug installed from a memory stick. Nikhil's Web Development Helper[^] and Fiddler[^] make living with IE a little easier too.

Internet Explorer has equivalents[^]. Not as good as Firebug, but good enough for debugging IE compatibility issues with your standards compliant site :-) Safari also has a Developer menu - now that *is* as good as Firebug...

I use IE Dev Toolbar as well. However, it's nowhere near as good as Firebug and totally useless for JavaScript debugging. Also I once spent several hours trying to solve a CSS problem, which I then solved in about five minutes in Firebug (it was my first serious attempt at using it in fact). I do not intend to try Safari right now as: 1. My brother who's a long time Mac user says it sucks. 2. I read bad reports on the Windows version. 3. Three browsers is enough for now (I also have Opera installed, though not on my work PC).

version 3's a big improvement on v2 (I'm a Mac user too) - it's quick and there's a lot of nice little features

I use a recent nightly build of Safari/Webkit. It's good. The main issue is the different font rendering between Windows & Safari, which reflects the differences between Windows and OS X.

That I can DEFINITELY agree with :-)

I have 5: * IE * Firefox * Opera (fav) * Safari * Swift Mainly I use FF/Opera, my brother uses Safari, and the rest are for testing.
