Well there are many many considerations. It must start at the right time, have the correct duration, preferably increase in pitch towards the last third and maintain a constant intensity for the duration (obviously follow through must be avoided). I think to get the best result a cheek must be casually lifted in the offenders direction while the farter maintains a conversation with someone else.

A good CS curriculum involves as much math as an engineering degree. While any hard science is probably a little more difficult I rank CS up there with math. Of course remember, I am speaking of CS and not MIS.

True. And good aptitude and reasoning power besides a logical coherant approach to problem-solving.

I'm sorry, but if you undergrads are going to come in here and start whining, us qualified people are going to have to show you the exit...

Computer Science is one of the most difficult programs available. (It is akin to a Math Degree at a Science based university) Admittedly, back in Uni, we did make fun of the education majors and soft sciences. My favorite method of doing so was taking a class no CS major would dare take and blow the curve.

Im doing engineering, not computer science, but I really hope that the computer science camp are not as rude to the students in lower program's as the engineers are.

Wouldn't that depend on someone's strength's? Not everyone struggles to understand computer concepts, but they may find physics, or even literature a struggle (or vice-versa).

It's like, you know, a programmer's disease. C++ers making fun of VBers and C#ers, C#ers making fun of C++ers and VBers, VBers making fun of HTMLers, everyone making fun of Java-ers, and Cers making fun of the aforementioned, and finally, asm-ers making fun of everyone else. haha, I like your sense of humour. I guess at the end of the day all you can do is sit back and laugh, and realise that none of us really know anything. I remember my old man once told me that no matter how good you get, there will most likely always be someone out there better than you.

One thing that really gets under my skin here at university is whenever i'm talking to someone who's doing a higher program than me, they always seem to make sure that I know how much harder their program is, and how much smarter they are. Can't a guy have a beer without someone trying to make him feel like cr@p?!?!

Well, you can tell them that, you can take their job in the future, but they are not able to take yours. ;) Quite a lot of people I know in this field are from engineering discipline, myself included.

True, but there are CS courses that are a real tough nut to crack as well.

One thing that really gets under my skin here at university is whenever i'm talking to someone who's doing a higher program than me, they always seem to make sure that I know how much harder their program is, and how much smarter they are. Can't a guy have a beer without someone trying to make him feel like cr@p?!?!

I work routinely with very clever people, unfortunately true brilliance takes far more than academic qualifications. Some have it, some are too arrogant to realize they don't. In fact academia is a bit of a farce, it just proves your ability to learn facts, it does not by any means prepare you for a working practical environment. The most important quality is continuous self improvement!

Sometimes their superior knowledge makes them blind to a more practical solution. A lot of the time, the concepts they're working on might be far superior in an academic sense, but completely impractical when applied to real-world problems.
