Oh dear - looks like the motto's changing to "Don't be caught out".

Good for Google, I don't like PayPal (as much as I use too), it's not *that* great of a service unless you use EBay. Even then it would be nice to have the option to pay by snail mail. Paypal's service fees suck and it still takes too long to transfer funds, imo.

It's not that great of a service, period. I see a lot more places using it, though. I have had the experience of having my account frozen, and not being able to retrieve money sent to me. Their "customer service" makes Dell's look good. It will be interesting to see if forcing all the EBay users to pay that way will have any effect on auction sales. I'll stop now before Chris boots me to the "Rants" page.

Is there something faster than instantaneous? (I have no complaints about PayPal. Have used it for years and am earning decent interest on my current balance.)

This is why you've got to be careful with MS Word. It stores all sorts of stuff in files, previous versions, original authors user name et cetera, et cetera.

Well, I stated it that way because I do use the service but I can't remember the last time I did.

I don't know but it is 2008! Why can I go to any ATM, that isn't even my bank and withdraw my money without waiting 3 days? It is because they[PayPal] are not a bank? I don't know but it is not my job to figure it out, they are doing this 24/7. I don't want to wait anytime to have access to my money, period. Can they refund the money on a credit card? Or deposit on a credit/debit card for faster access? I don't know but there has to be some sort of answer out there.

I'm still confused. I transfer money to and from PayPal and send and receive payments and don't wait at all. Any issue is NOT with PayPal, but with your own bank putting a hold on funds. The law allows them to hold funds for three days, so they do. I suggest getting a different bank and/or making sure you have higher balances. (I haven't had a hold put on a check at my bank since I can remember.)

                  Yes.

Actually they should just go ahead and speak out publicly against it. It's bs. Sellers should be able to use the avenue of their choice to collect payments and not be a Paypal victim if they don't want to. :)
