I find with IE7, gmail will suddenly jump into a state where it just refreshes itself over and over. Firefox becomes the only way I can read mail. Closing and opening IE7 does not help. Anyone else seeing this ?

This has been discussed, again and again and again and always we (the denizens of the CP lounge) have come to the conclusion that their method of rating is pure, untouched, unadulterated, genuine, verifiable, refined trash. MIM on TIOBE

It works fine in IE7 here, however in Firefox when I click on the spam I can wave goodbye ... Firefox just freezes!

Happens to me every other time I use IE7 for gmail. As Rama suggested, delete the cookies.

I have the same issue with firefox. It's not working even the cookies are cleared. IE7 it's working correctly.

Yes, it happens to a colleague at work. I didn't notice it in IE7 but I gave up on it months ago as I found it generally didn't play well with GMail. For example, it would not retain my login. This was irritating as I'm also a regular user of Google Reader and Bookmarks.

I have the opposite problem - since the "Loading" progress bar was added I can't get into http://mail.google.com with Firefox (or Flock), but I can get in with IE7. In Firefox the browser just enters a loop, with the progress bar reaching about 75% and then jumping back to 0. Removing (all!) cookies and cleaning the cache didn't help. On the other hand I discovered that accessing GMail through secure http (https://mail.google.com) works with both Firefox and IE7, so...

I actually have this problem with FF myself and have to switch over to IE to read gmail. It's like it doesn't want to load - the little thingy just goes back and forth and back and forth ad nauseum. X|
