I am still waiting for a reasonably powerful electric bike to be launched in India.

Ok, everytime I enter aa code with anny of the #include starters, i get 103 errors and 2 warnings, and then I look for them, and it opens a new window "tab" thingy, and otsream, or istream or math or w/e i am using comes up. It makes testing fully written programs impossible to test. Does anyone know how to fix it?? - A query asked on the VC++ board[^]

I think that petrol should be completely unregulated. Diesel should be available on subsidy only to public utilities and freight carriers. No subsidies for airline fuel. Subsidized LPG for cooking should be available only for families below poverty line. If there is real concern about taxes, government sponsored welfare activities have to be revamped. I am sure every Indian will agree that far more can be done for far less money, if the bureaucracy is trimmed down and simpler distribution schemes for welfare is implemented. In Kerala, the government has about 3 lakhs employees. There are only less than 2000 panchayats (town in US terms). The government effectively employs 150 people per panchayat. Nothing much happens in these panchayats anyway. They can't even maintain infrastructure or provide effective waste disposal. Proper computerization with simplified administrative procedures is required. (the current ones were made when there was no telephone or motor vehicles; files are being manually send by post everyday). I know that it will not happen; firing 90% government employees will be a welcome step though.

Very much. At least this befits Government of Tamil Nadu very much. I am not sure, how this government is going to respond to the crazy schemes like Free LPG and Free Color TV for masses, which were launched purely to strenghten their vote banks.

We would rather gain a lot of thing. 1) Significant savings for the exchequer 2) Better management of public taxes instead of just letting them in the drain. 3) Better name and fame for the various departments of the government since the rampantly corrupt political skunks are being cleared off.

I am not sure what you are ranting about here. I think it is unfortunate that in India petrol proces are in control of the government a opposed to the free market. That to me will be the real rant rather than the price increase.

The purchase of car is an one-time investment. The number of times we purchase fuel and its ratio against the original investment seems to have gone through a really horrible sea-change and the current manifestation of it being a terrifying price model of the non-renewable resource. :)

Exactly! If we (as individuals, as societies) are going to make these sorts of decisions with "the environment" being the decisive factor, then we have to look at the whole picture.
