Has it sense?

Hello all, Yesterday a guy that is a commercial that works for us told me that he had used a "zuppaprogramm" that was capable to help an enterprise to sell more: It seems that this program allowed the user to make mailings with a greater percent of results. The pros of that program seem to be: 1. It makes it easy to make a mailing list. (It is not very difficult to make them using word...) 2. It goes through all the filters and always goes into the inbox of the receiver. (I'd love to know how can this be done...) 3. It ensures that even if the user doesn't want to, you will receive a notification when the user has opened it. ? 4. It ensures that if the user opens any link in your message you'll know it... OK, this one seems that can work. Do you think that any of the things that this software can do are possible? What would you recommend me in order to make a mailing list? (I've thought on word+excel+outlook). As always thank you in advance.

How ethical is it to force your crappy mail onto unsuspecting people? (whatever your product is, it's going to be crap to the majority of folks on a mass spam system) The only way you, or anyone, can get away with mass emailing anything without me wishing you some serious bodily harm is using an opt-in list. It doesn't matter what software you use to actually create or send it. Kris Disclaimer: this post is not a threat to you or anyone else, any reader who thinks otherwise needs to learn to read.

I don't know... I wonder which is the difference or which is better from the two options: 1. A sales person that come to your company and take your time explaining you about the machine that he/she wants to sell. 2. An e-mail that has only a brief introduction and a link to a web page where you can find information about your specific job. I.E. if you manufacture knives we have a machine in order to grind them... we could send an e-mail to all the knife producers in the world... this could mean that if one small percent of people would be interested it would be great for our company... and also for their company. Of course I don't think that indiscriminate e-mail is good... this is purely spam. I.E.: the typical "Viagra" one and similar. But in the other hand we can send specific mails to possible customers that could need that. I don't know... even I don't want to justify or something this procedure... it is simply promoted in another department of my company...

I, for one, like to get targeted emails, and not ones targeting my small man syndrome.

I don't like getting any unsolicited emails. Ask the customer when they show an interest in buying your product or in finding out more information whether they want to be notified, but leave the default off. As for the points: 2. Usually this is done by adding randomised additional content. This is a constant war between the attacker and the spam filters. If a message does get through your message will look unprofessional. 3. This is usually done by adding some link or other resource to the email that the email client will automatically access when reading the message. For example, including a query string or other identifier in the URL of an image (possibly a blank one, but possibly any of the images used in the message). In practice, most email clients have been constantly reducing the amount of automatic access they do, in order to reduce the possibility of file format parsing vulnerabilities and to protect the user's privacy. Outlook 2003 and 2007 now prevent downloads by default. I would advise against using non-embedded graphics as your email will look poor or unreadable. I delete these without further thought. 4. Same technique, just embedding the identifier in the link. Ultimately the efficacy of whether your mailing list is working can be judged by how many sales you make. Any other measure is a distortion - you may be getting millions of people reading the message, but if they tell their friends that you're annoying and they can't get off your mailing list, your sales rate will probably go down, not up.

Yup - that's a common spam tactic, and one that's likely to annoy. (BTW - they can't actually force this because most decent email clients can block items that identify whether or not the email has been opened).

Nope - you can't guarantee this. For instance, our internal spam filters quarantine emails that consist only of pictures, or of pictures with only a few words unless the sender is on our whitelist. Mailing lists can be very profitable and very useful, but you MUST make sure that your recipients have opted in. If your target is an individual, you have to be very careful to ensure you don't fall foul of anti-spam legislation.
