I've been in WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, TX, FL, IL, OK and MA. Is Cape Cod in MA ? If not, I've been there, too.

It would have taken less time to name the states I haven't been to: Alabama Alaska Arizona Arkansas California Connecticut Delaware Florida Hawaii Illinois Indiana Iowa Kansas Kentucky Louisiana Maryland Massachusetts Michigan Missouri Nevada New Jersey New Mexico North Carolina Oklahoma Ohio Oregon Pennsylvania South Carolina Tennessee Texas Utah Virginia Washington Washington DC (not a state, but not considered part of one either) West Virginia Wisconsin US Territories: Guam U.S. Virgin Islands

Actually, while it is far from perfect, I love visiting the US. I am sure I will love visiting Europe, but I'm sure I won't think it perfect, either. ( Nor is Australia perfect, but it's still the best bloody country on offer )

Does that include states where layovers took place, and connecting flights made?

I included IL on that basis, but I know I forget several other states, so I guess it's a mixed bag.

Aside from CF (that would be the state of confusion), it's easier to list the ones I've never set foot in which oddly is a big strip down the middle. WS, MN, NE, IA, KS, MO, MS, OK, AR, LA.

if you lived on the east coast when you were a kid, as i did, then you probably hit every state south of you on the coast as you drove down I95 to DisneyWorld in FL.

I've been in WA, OR, CA, NV, AZ, TX, FL, IL, OK and MA. Is Cape Cod in MA ? If not, I've been there, too.

I've simply never had a reason to go there.

I grew up in SC, lived in CA, GA, TX, OK, currently live in UT, and I've been to many states. Let's see, besides the ones I mentioned already, been to/through: NC, VA, WV, PA, NJ, OH, IN, IL, IA, SD, Nebraska, Kansas, WY, WA, ID, NV, AZ, NM, TX, LA, MS, AL, FL, TN, Kentucky, CO, AR, MS, Montana, DC (if that counts), Maryland, DE. That leaves me New England, Oregon, North Dakota, WI and Michigan. But sadly I haven't been outside the US.
