From the original Alien movie, it's the planet that the Nostromo finds the derelict alien vessel that carries the eggs of the Alien. The vessel is broadcasting a distress signal. The crew investigates, one of them gets infected by the Face-Hugger (can't recall the character's name, but he's played by John Hurt), and you know the rest... :)

Ah, but the body is only identified in the later movies, it's anonymous in the original (and best IMNSHO).

You mean the face hugger? Yeah, that's true. I've always wondered about the giant alien carcass that they find in the first movie aboard the abandoned ship. Where did it come from? What was it like?

Pick any planet/moon from Sci-fi movies/literature or in our solar system. I think living on a moon oribiting Saturn would be awesome. :) Marc

Last week I was at a dinner meeting for local business owners and someone mention the most odd real name I've ever heard. It was something like 'Darius Thunderbutton' The first thing that came into my mind was "My name is not important." The only person who seemed to understand why I was suppressing a giggle was a guy Greg who is originally from London.

Risa - from ST:TNG. Of course they had a similar planet in which Wesley Crusher almost gets killed from early on.

Wow. I cannot imagine what you thought when you got to the big party at the end - There are more references to other Heinleinia there than in any three histories of 20th century science fiction. Spider Robinson said that RAH wrote Number of the Beast for six million of his closest friends.

Pick any planet/moon from Sci-fi movies/literature or in our solar system. I think living on a moon oribiting Saturn would be awesome. :) Marc

My favourite was always Djelibeybi. (Pronounced "Jelly Baby" for those who are slow like me. It took me most of the book to realise the pun)

What about Llamedos? I liked the "welsh" unti I realised that it was "Sod 'em all" backwards. Then I REALLY wanted to live there!
