My increasingly unreliable memory tells me that I read a series of erudit articles here about a couple of years ago which outlined some ideas for a 'next generation' of IDE or programmer workbench. Does anyone else remember them? If I can find them, I'd like to review them.

I just want it to be rectangular with nice sharp pointy corners.

"Flat" will last maybe another decade. Then, they'll be round. Finally, we'll settle on almost, but not quite round.

I remember those articles well - in fact, they were when I first started to really post messages (my messages are in there under the name Big Pete). If memory serves, Tim had a meeting with MS about the IDE and then nothing happened; which was a shame because they were really good.

Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

I never knew that! I found those articles to be refreshing :)

Followed by a "retro" flat look?

There must also be a "transparent 3D" phase somewhere!

Thanks for that - the article doesn't jog my memory especially but it's smack on the money and full of super ideas.
