Coffee Alternatives, not Caffeine Alternatives...
-
I'm curious to know what else is out there that is not coffee? I've been drinking Advocare Spark for years and loved it. I've had stomach problems for years and never knew why. Money problems kept me from getting any and the month off my stomach was great. Having sleep apnea I pretty much need caffeine. No choice. So I switched to Rockstar. I simply love those energy drinks (you either love them or hate them). I'm concerned about all the non FDA approved stuff in them. I like loads of caffeine but the other stuff is a concern. Coffee rips my stomach up. Just too much acid. Do you have a caffeine drink you really like that isn't sugar free and not loaded with weird stuff? (Cannot be coffee, Cannot be sugar free. Sugar free hurts my stomach something good.)

The energy drink of choice among my collegues is "Red Bull" Only 12 calories per can. Excellent drink for the hot weather.

ZMA[^] gives me a better night's sleep then anything else I've tried. It's even better then my CPAP. I need way less caffeine the next day when I take it before bed. It's great and it's just vitamins. Even if it doesn't work for you, it's cheap so it really doesn't hurt to try, just don't get the GNC brand or any with extra ingredients you want the stuff with just the vitamins. Bodybuilding.com has some good deals on it.

Why don't you try caffeine pills, with gensing and the other various substances they put in those energy drinks? I'm not much into stimulants, but some of that stuff works surprisingly well. Add psudoephedrine for an extra kick in the brain, the psudoephedrine by itself works quite well. I used to take 60mg of it every Sunday before work because it gave me energy and stamina, more than caffeine could give me. There is also Ritilan and Adderall.
You could ask your doctor about a mix of B vitamins. That'll get rid of the caffeine and keep your energy levels high. There's a product on the market called 5 hour energy. I'm not really a fan, but that's basically what it is, no sugar, no caffeine, just pure energy. Personally I like AMP'D (in the red can) made by mountain dew.

I don't drink coffee. I don't drink energy drinks. I don't drink carbonated beverages. Sometimes I eat some chocolate, but I think my average monthly intake of caffeine is probably considerably lower than the average hourly intake of most people. So, where exactly do I turn in my geek card on my way out?

So the problem is you're not getting a good night's sleep, you're sleepy during the day and need the caffeine to keep you awake. Maybe you can attack this problem from two directions... I started exercising on a regular basis this January and have been getting great sleep because of it. I eat whatever junk food / fast food lunch I want during the day, but for dinner I eat light and healthy. Or maybe you need a better bed. Anyway, a better night's sleep will reduce your need for caffeine during the day.. and your body will thank you for better overall health. Better sleep + less caffeine = happier stomach!

For hot weather I recommend coffee frappe. If you didn't try it, you just have to!
