I'm also a guitarist / bassist - I play a bit of everything, but most into prog (Yes, Dream Theater, Rush, Neal Morse/Spocks Beard, Glass Hammer, etc...) I was totally bummed when Yes had to cancel their tour this year! I also spend hours reading (mostly sci-fi and fantasy), and generally spending time with family - which mostly means my wife now: of 2 daughters (both over 18), one has moved out and the other is seldom around...

Can you play the solo in "As I Am" (Dream Theater) yet? ;P I can play the bass to most of the songs...except the ones that require 6 strings. :((

I wish - John M. blows my doors off. Then again he practices more hours per day than I put in in front of the screen... I'm still working on LTE's 'When the Water Breaks' - Tony Levin blows me away, too; but for some reason I seem to be able to work my way through his stuff a bit easier. Maybe it's just that John has those 12 inch fingers, while mine are more like 1/2 inch (darn it - there's no smiley for jealous as all get-out :-D )

Haha, yeah, felt the same about Myung having insanely long fingers when I started playing; mine are rather long but still have no clue how he can stretch his fingers like that :omg:. They do have quite an advantage with being able to practice so much...wish I could, I only get about 1-2 hours a day :sigh:. Right now I'm working more on music like Tool .

I enjoy Tool, but haven't learned any of their songs... for some reason, when it comes to the more dark music, I seem to like electronica better: Gary Numan, Depeche Mode's 'A Broken Frame' (the only album of theirs I like), Daft Punk, etc... although I still like Siouxie and Xmal - I guess I'm just a weird musical ecclectic iconoclast - the only stuff I really dislike is the stuff that gets radio play - the musical version of oatmeal (without cinnamon or sugar) - you know, SoftRock, most Country, and most HipHop! On a different note, I really wasn't exagerating by that much on the length of my fingers - my longest finger is less than 2 1/2 inches! I have a good sense of style, but blazing speed will never be me...

I started out with a casual gaming hobby that has pretty much bloomed into a full blown collection (though not obsessive enough to pay hundreds of dollars for "classic" games... yet). Other than that, I read (sci-fi, fantasy, horror), listen to music, and collect some Anime (Japanese animation). :) Flynn

slang terms not withstanding... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Native_American_flute[^] I play a double flute, two flutes in one, one flute is a single note compliment to the other flute which is pentatonic in scale. You can play one, or both simultaneously. I have about a dozen others now, but that is my favorite as it was made just for me.

I've done some N scale about 10 years ago. The layout was okay, but my soldering job was sub-par and the tracks kept snapping on the curves and you can imagine the multitude of derailments that happened

I do quizzes - I am a member of teams in two different quiz leagues and I am currently ranked as the #6 quizzer in the UK and have been as high as #20 in the World rankings in previous years, though I dropped to #48 in this year's world championships. I had an afternoon off this week to film a new BBC quiz show (Battle of the Brains) to be shown later this year and am off to the lovely town of Ludlow this weekend to take part in the monthly Quiz Grand Prix meeting - good company, fiendishly difficult questions, good beer and a nice day out.
