Hi everyone. As many of you know the new iPhone was released yesterday around the globe. I was wondering if anyone got it and wanna talk about it? I'm still waiting for my delivery. In UK the O2 customer service has been joke. I was queuing outside the O2 retail store from 7-10 and guess what, their system crashed (This is what I've been told!!) So I came home and rang them after one/two hours and they said they Sold out of iPhone. And when I said I was there in morning, they said that their system is still down, and the manager promised me to give me a call as soon as system comes back up. Even after 30 hours, no calls nothing. Now what does this mean? (If their system stays down for 24 hours than that means they must have a team dummies working for them or they're still using 10year old System  ) Anyway back to the phone, I heard from some of my mates that GPS is not that great on iPhone. And that in some countries they'll be using 2G rather than 3G for the internet? Strange, eh? The one thing I don't understand is why apple using this weird strategy to attract customers? I mean if they don't have enough phones to sell then delay the release date!! (Rather than going Nintendo Wii way**) But well if anyone got it then please share it, here! I'm desperate to find out how is it?

I believe it relies on Google Maps and isnt a dedicated GPS application.

But you just said the problem was with O2.

I have no use for the iPhone right now. When it comes with at least 64gig and can replace the iPod, I will consider it. anyway, in Canada, the contracts suck and they are run by "criminals" who and change contracts whenever they want to. (i.e. they decided for no reason to make us pay for incoming SMS, 15c per message)

the scarcity attracts early adopters who will camp out in front of stores and then tell everyone they know that they got one. everybody else will drool over it because it's scare and rare and hyped and very very shiny. it makes for good press.

Makes for even better sales. It's a good phone, a good mobile device, I recommend it.

Nothing to do with Google Maps. It is A-GPS (Assisted GPS.) It uses ground based servers to boost accuracy in dense urban environments. The co'ordinates are available to any apps. that request it.

no removable battery no mms no copy and paste no real keypad no bluetooth peripherals that apple doesnt "approve" no sim unlocking (and in the states a 2yr att contract - deal killer on its own) thats why i have no interest in them for others whom that list is no problem then its the best gadget ever invented as many of my friends testify

I had a 1st gen iphone but returned it because it lacked too many features that I use on a daily basis. My understanding is that Apple still hasn't addressed my wants (Voice Dialing/Commands/Recorder, Speed Dialing, Stereo Bluetooth). Once they have been addressed I'll buy one (if open moko or android don't beat apple to the punch) [Edit] Oh, and the lack of a removable battery really hurts, I'm on my mobile constantly with vendors, customers, and business partners.

Yup. Only one in that list that annoys me is copy-paste. And you can unlock it :)
