I noticed a few CP members who could barely write in English (I am not a native speaker myself) and asked stupid questions either in the Lounge or in the other forums. When I examined their profiles it said they were from the US. Yeah, right...

Thus I keep it a complete secret. Of course with VOIP a person can be anywhere they want to pretend to be. What would be funny of course is to turn it around on the recruiters in India who are hiring for candidates in the States and insist on a local candidate by getting your own VOIP number that is local before the interview just to play there own game. Personally, I wouldn't do it but it would be funny. I wander if Indian call centers ever screen somebody who is sitting in the next cube. That would be so funny as they would both be lying to each other and then when the call is done they would talk to each other about the respective calls never realizing that they were talking to each other because of course they lied about their locations, names, and experience.

I've noticed that myself. Especially at 11:00pm California time, rash of questions begin flooding the forums. Hmmmm, isn't that 10:00Am-Noon-ish in India?

Why do you smell a rat when people who say they are from the US can barely write English ;-)

I noticed that too. It is not hard to guess where those people are from. Is it? My sense is that since membership was required to download from CP, we all have seen, some creating multiple *personalities* ( take that with heavy grain of salt). For some reason you will see people re-incarnating them self every now and then. (most of those are idiots who should not have touched the keyboard in first place, let alone to join cp) With wave and wave of such idiots, they left with bad reputation for users from that country. There are plenty good, competent and creative users, but the overwhelming bad leaving bad taste in the mouth. Thus, you started noticing some registering as their place US. Hmmm, As if that covers their a**. Hey if you are an idiot, then it does not matter where you live, you still are an idiot.

i do not think it has anyhting to do with nationality. it has to do with language barrier. i do not care where you are from, if you are asking for help in an english forum then you should probably have a strong command of the english language. this is the reason i do not post questions in german forums or spanish forums or chinese forums. chances are they will have no idea what i am asking if i can even put together the question.

I think the main reason behind country = USA in profile is that's the default one when you create a profile (It's not compulsory to change it while creating a profile). And most people (who are lazy like me) skip while creating the profile :D

Really? How heavy can a grain of salt be? Grain of Salt[^] AFAIK the weight has nothing to do with it. ;)

So the bigger question is why CP favours usa nationals... for us guyz outside usa have to select that drop down menu and search for our country name and USA people they get a nice default settings. Shouldn't cp registration webpage select the proper country from IP address automatically just like "orkut"

Lazy is not synonymous with Idiot. I am lazy too, I try to cut corners where ever I can. But that does not make me an idiot? will it. If you are accepting all defaults including your ID "Member 4450649", then that speaks a volume about you. The only place, I do it such thing is, where I know I will not be back again. There are sights that force you to create an ID just for the slightest thing you want to do. If there is such info I care to see, I create a *dummy* account to access the site, never remember what I even choose for ID, never post anything. Hey Chris, change the default to "Idiotsville", will ya?

You want to restrict the forum to one member per country? Isn’t this a little extreme measure?
