People afraid of exposing their nationality at CodeProject?

There are a lot of people here (U.S.) that don't know English...and some that are lacking in intelligence so it might not be a language problem at all.

No! Say it's not so! In our country? ;) ;P
WE ARE DYSLEXIC OF BORG. Refutance is systile. Your a$$ will be laminated. There are 10 kinds of people in the world: People who know binary and people who don't.

Nationality? There's no mention of nationality anywhere. There's the location in each user's profile, but location does not require one be of that nation's nationality, given that the general its actually true. I'm a Jordanian-Canadian residing in Jordan, but I don't feel at home here and actually consider myself an expat.

I am from the USA. New Mexico to be precise. I also speak only one language, English, to which my High School English teacher would argue that I don't even speak one. :)

Why do you smell a rat when people who say they are from the US can barely write English ;-)

I don't know, I was subconsciously expecting native speakers to be better than me... When I think about it now, you'd find illiterates in every country. Perhaps I am more struck by it because English is not my mother language, so if I see someone else speaking like that it must be the worst level possible.

the heaviest the better. that Roman general could have used heavy grain of salt as a poison too. ;P

And as scorpion's ammo. ;)

I think the main reason behind country = USA in profile is that's the default one when you create a profile (It's not compulsory to change it while creating a profile). And most people (who are lazy like me) skip while creating the profile :D

You also skipped the username field apparently...

Lazy is not synonymous with Idiot. I am lazy too, I try to cut corners where ever I can. But that does not make me an idiot? will it. If you are accepting all defaults including your ID "Member 4450649", then that speaks a volume about you. The only place, I do it such thing is, where I know I will not be back again. There are sights that force you to create an ID just for the slightest thing you want to do. If there is such info I care to see, I create a *dummy* account to access the site, never remember what I even choose for ID, never post anything. Hey Chris, change the default to "Idiotsville", will ya?

 An interesting option indeed. Seriously though, a required field with a default blank option would do. I wonder if we would still see so many "Americans" because they would be now explicitly selecting USA?

You are absolutely right. I didn't think about it that way. Still, probably a majority of users are of the same nationality as indicated by their location, with the exception of "Americans" who never were to the United States. ;)
