So we have this Eagles concert here this weekend. They are expecting ~50,000 people. VIP tickets were $300 (now $250) and approx 10,000 were sold. Total ~$3,000,000. They get to sit on bleachers and get their own porta-toilets and beer tent. Standing tickets were $160 (now $125), so that leaves 40,000. Total ~$5,000,000 Now with all that money, you still can't bring food or drink because they want to sell you $5 hot dogs, etc. And no umbrella or chair either. Lord knows what they want for the garbage bags they'll sell when it rains. (last year it was $2)

Went to a 3 Doors Down concert a few weeks back. Tickets were $60 and included free parking. I got a comfy seat with a back and arms. A roof over my head. 3 warm up acts (Jet Black Stare, Hinder and Staind). Traffic in and out was a breeze. All in all a great night! Concessions were expensive but such is life.

Going to see Ringo and his all star band tonight; indoors, nice comfy seats, reasonably-priced tickets, flush toilets.

That's retarded. How can 10k people be VIP ?

Well, that's the venue making money, not the Eagles. I paid $150 for Maiden tickets, waited all day in the sun and stood at the barrier. Best concert of my life.

A friend went to that, and it actually sounded good. Billy Squier sings The Stroke and Colin Hay sings Down Under.

I was going to surprise my wife with *cough*George Michael*cough* tickets, but they wanted $85 for nosebleed seats in a huge arena (american airlines arena in dallas) and $350 for floor seats. The Eagles I can see charging big prices, but this was George flippin Michael..

I thought they were all dead. If not, then they should be.

I don't normally do this but I think it is warranted in this case... -1000 man points for even mentioning his name.

I'd guess they redefined the 'I'. And probably the 'P'.

It's not *directly* related... Last week I came back froma trip to Belfast. The couple in front of me had a plastic bag issued by heathrow airport staff that morning. But "I'm very sorry sir - the bag is too large. It must be (this pathetically small size)". Oh shock horror - they'll sell you two bags which just happen to be the smaller size from a vending machine right next to the "security" woman for a pound... Am I getting cynical in my dotage? Luckily I don't travel with liquids etc [*], but it must be a right pain for women! Iain. [*] Not completly true. In the past I've (accidentally) smuggle toothpaste, alan keys, phillips screwdrivers, wire cutters in the bottom of my laptop bag. Not on the same trip!

Get this: they even invented a VVIP ticket!! They sat in a tent beside the bleachers for $4000/table. As it turns out, it rained every day up to the morning of the concert, and every day since. So the people who went had a good, soggy concert, but no rain.

The solution is combine several activities together, you got:

                        1. The Concert (obviously)
                        2. Exercise (you do jump up and down during concert, do you?)
                        3. Dieting (zero calorie)
                        4. Socializing (while waiting in line outside the portable toilet)
                        5. Shower (only if it rains)

                        :-D
