Sorry about the outage but we've just rolled in a huge stonkin' new database server that we hope will fix the 'Unable to load messages' issue. We're also doing final testing of some new code that vastly (we're talking 100X) speeds up certain aspects of the site but figured we'd just charge up the flux capacitor and get it going instead of trying to do everything at once. Can everyone cross their fingers, please?

    cheers, Chris Maunder

Wow! It seems to be screaming to me. Am I on the right site? Has someone spoofed it? ;P

You're brave to add a critical piece of hardware (and maybe new code) on a Friday afternoon. I only do that if I absolutely have to. I don't like working weekends.

Brave? Nah. It's beer o'clock soon so if anything goes disasterously wrong then either a) everyone will be away relaxing and not notice, or b) I will have had a beer and it won't seem as stressful to me.

Don't forget to save the empties for the flux capacitor... It's going to be a busy weekend here, what with all the new speed. I'm forwarding another 20 kilos of meth-roasted peanuts for the squirrels, too, so watch for the mail truck. It'll be the one with the inconspicuous gents in blue suits following it with mysterious lumps under their coats and dark glasses.

Bookmark on my toolbar that was working 'fore the upgrade. It's been there for... a long time, though given the aspx bit i'd guess it was last updated during or shortly after the 2.0 upgrade. Bookmark points to Lounge.aspx now, so no worries.

I die to read your article(s) about "how to create a fast and stable website with thousands of users online all the time going back and forth between millions of records" or "How to optimize our ASP.Net code a hundred times". :)

Great improvement of speed for dial-up users (also using AOHell). Great job Chris (and the rest of the CodeProject staff).
