    Visual SourceSa..........just joking :)

I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

CVS (with wincvs clients) or SVN (with rapidsvn clients)

are you looking for an publicly viewable src control repository? i think most people assumed you were looking for a non public repos. if you truly do want a public repos, sourceforge is great, and i would also suggest code.google.com.

also, unfuddle and assembla offer SVN hosting at no charge, unless you need more resources than the free plans offer. However, these are both not open to the public.

in that case i would suggest using either unfuddle.com or assembla.com. Both are SVN based so you will need Tortise to interact with them, and both have free plans that you can use to try them out. If you're looking to understand the admin side of src control, you can download and install a local SVN setup. However, in this day in age, with free providers out there, there's really no reason to do this. Let someone else do that work for you. btw, SVN stands for Subversion.

I recently picked up TortoiseSVN and like it very much. The company I work for also is switching to it. Nice interface and learning curve is not to bad, but very powerful! Mike
