My Daughter is due to have a baby in October (My 5th Grandchild). We know it will most likely be a girl, they want to call her Faith but there is another spelling Failth. Does anybody know where this spelling came from, I have searched everywhere and can't find where it originated.

Interesting. I really think it is an alternative spelling caused by an 'error' in translation or a typo in many cases. Maybe in some places, some folk actually pronounce 'faith' that way as well. The Bible uses the word "Faileth" quite a bit, but it means 'to fail'. Best wishes to your descendants. :-) Regardz Colin J Davies

Yeah, I'd personally avoid a name with the word "fail" in it. Kids at school can be so cruel! -- Help me! I'm turning into a grapefruit!

I thought it might be English or Irish. :)
