I suppose if the Cheeky Chirpy Cockernee Sparrers did herd us together and drive us down South then the phrase "London 2012 is for all of Britain not just London" might have a ring of authenticity about it. One wonders if this think-tank (using the phrase in its loosest context) watch Pathe newsreels of the Jarrow March to catch up on what's happening in the wastelands north of Watford. Utter BLX
I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

What would be better is if the Govt announced a free holiday to Blackpool, and then all the chavs went there for a freebie. In the middle of the night build a wall round Hell.On.Earth - this would solve the chav problem and also remove H.O.E. from public access. A GOOD thing! Sorry - I mean a VERY GOOD thing!

I'd move to London or somewhere near a tube station if I could afford a flat down there - don't really want to pay any more than my current flat which is £450 a month without a proportional wage increase. There are more job opportunities there, IMO it's generally safer, and public transport is far better. I don't drive and I never visit the countryside. I'm in Manchester at the moment (well, about 8 miles out). The city center and some parts of the south of the city are fine but I'm not that keen on the rest of the place. Software jobs like my current one tend to be way out on industrial estates which takes hours to get to on public transport, so at the moment I'm living 20 minutes walk away from where I work. My previous 6 or 7 mile commute took over 3 hours one way on a combination of buses, a train and a tram and even if I could drive I'd probably end up being hit by the congestion charge the council wants to bring in.
