No. One for coding, one for testing.

I use a dual-monitor setup at my office, and I like it. I find myself opening a Visual Studio project full-screen on one monitor, and my e-mail etc. in the other, for example, or another Visual Studio project in the other even sometimes. I like having the extra screen real-estate. I suppose a wide-screen monitor would be about the same.

I do and it does help (IDE on one screen, documentation/IE/other stuff on the other). And it makes your life slightly easier while debugging (place app window on different screen than your IDE, so they don't overlap which can be extremely helpful when you debug painting code). Heck, now I'm thinking about buying third monitor... :-\

Does it require a special hardware to make it?, I heard that there is a cable to do it.

I have three, a 24, an two 19s. The main one contains my code, if I need to read something and compare to my code, it goes on the right, where I also keep MSN windows. On the left is media player if I am using it, and various text documents, such as the one I use to keep track of my daily tasks for timesheets.

How giant ? My 24 inch widescreen is amazing. I can't imagine life without it.

for 3D graphics and probably for any graphics, it is a lifesaver. UI or graphics on main window, and all your debugging, performance monitoring or other testing tools on the other window. Keep the product window clean and realistic in a user environment, and the coding/debugging window with the tools you need to do the job right.

Yep. Use dual monitors when coding and it is very helpful :) VS2008 on one display, and Code Project on the other :-\

That has to be a whole new machine here.... I miss my quad monitor setup.... ONe for CP, One for Linux, two for primary coding on Windows. :)

I tried it once and really disliked it except when I needed to debug certain types of UI issues where losing foreground caused problems (like with menus.) I now use a very nice widescreen at work and even find that to be a waste. I prefer a good old 19" CRT.

I'm often debugging client/server apps, sometimes stuff involving designers (form and report) and I often have trace logs going for things not in debug mode. I also often run debug sessions on both the server and the client apps simultaneously. Having multiple monitors, not just dual monitors, is extremely helpful. Marc

I like coding on one and either testing or googling or email on the other. Been programming for many years and wonder how/why I have done without. Mike

For a while there I was using 3 19" CRTs all in 1280x1024 but I had to loose one since the new PC did not have dual PCIE 16X slots. I may eventually put a PCI graphics card in to add back the third monitor. I code on the first move the class view to the second and the UI designer to the 3rd with several putty sessions scattered on all monitors and also a firefox session probably on the first with probably 35 to 75 tabs open at most times.
