That is a movie that really captured my imitation when I was very young; far more than starwars ever did.

Based on The Tempest of course. Plus how many films and series did that robot appear in afterwards?

Yep. Pure science fiction and one of the most original plots ever written. And funny as hell. I'm no big Tim Allen fan, but he was perfect as the jaded, b-grade actor living off his wacko fan base suddenly swept into playing the role for real by a very confused bunch of aliens.

Chaining ourselves to the moral high ground does not make us good guys. Aside from making us easy targets, it merely makes us idiotic prisoners of our own self loathing.

I saw this in 1964 as The Invasion Of The Body Snatchers. Loved it. Got the VHS when it was released as the "Original Invasion Of The Body Snatchers". Hated it. Someone edited the sound track.

In no particular order: Dreamscape Repo Man Buckaroo Banzai Back to the Future Time Rider Capricorn One The Last Starfighter Flight of the Navigator Star Wars Electric Dreams Edit: Aw crap, forgot Blade Runner, it was hidden between Beatles and Bond. I guess it can replace Electric Dreams. Anyway, I only looked through what I have... if I don't have it, I didn't like it. :-D

I don't know if it really counts, but I love Transformers. Every time it is on TV I have to watch it. That along with Poltergeist, and The Fifth Element. Star Wars IV just holds a special place in my heart even though it is not really better overall than 5 and 6. And none of those recreated CGI ones. I also like Blade Runner. Hubby loves Serenity (haven't seen it all) and I got him Starship Troopers on BluRay for his b-day.
