Continually painted by Apple and other rivals as uncool and unsafe, Microsoft plans to spend $300 million on a new series of advertisements, designed around its "Windows Not Walls" slogan, that will feature Seinfeld and Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates. My guess is that putting Bill Gates on camera will not make Microsoft cool, even if Seinfeld is there, too.

How about turning that statement over: This will not make Microsoft cool even if Bill Gates is there, too. And yes, I'm not a fan of Seinfeld...

Did anyone else catch the subtle hint in the subtext of the message from the email that maybe Seinfeld isn't the most up to date personality to be showing how "cool and hip" MS is? I'm a fan of MS but think that there might be someone out there who could help appeal to the younger generation better than Mr. (What is up with that?) Seinfeld. I think the hidden agenda of the geeks at MS is to remain uncool and unhip... and personally I'm fine with that goal. Who needs them to suddenly get their groove back and realize that they can start charging even more for their products? Not I.
