Even I bought iMac (20 inch, 2.6Ghz Core 2 Duo, 2 GB RAM, 320GB HD) for Rs.89000/- (INR) ($2225) in FEB 2008. In US 24 inch model with Intel Extreme processor is around $2200. And to my surprise in May 2008 Apple reduced around Rs.20000/- (INR) ($500) on all the iMac's. X| :wtf:

It is easy to assume that the segment between $400 and $700 is very small - the vast majority probably cannot afford $400, and those who can, also can afford twice that much. That's different in the US, where there are a lot of customers who buy for $400. Not sure if this is the definition of "middle class".

You have to be a real snob in order to pay more than twice the real value of that thing just for the cool logo. There are so many better products out there and cheaper too. Just look at the HTC Touch diamond for starters.

I'm not going to buy at that high cost. I already have a unlocked first gen iPhone 16GB which was purchased in US for $500. I'm happy with it :)
