A while back there was a discussion on the topic of remote control software. I don't want to use remote desktop as I need to remote onto client sites and be able to control any one of their PCs at my discretion. I've been using LogMeIn for years but it's very expensive so I'm looking at some of the free options that are out there only I don't remember the names of a lot of them to research them. Do you know of any free LogMeIn/GoToMyPC style services for remoting onto PCs on distant networks? If so do you mind sharing the name? I'm sure there are some great open source projects of this caliber and I'm interested in them as well. I'm not interested in remote VPN as much as I'm interested in simple remote control. One hard requirement is that the software allow for shared sessions between the remote user and myself. More specifically I want both of us to be able to see the desktop, share the mouse and keyboard. If there was a voice option that would be a bonus but not at all required.

I still use the free portion of LogMeIn. Fits the bill for the lite remoting I have to do.

TightVNC is what the company I last worked in used - it fits your requirements other than voip. It was Ok however my personal preference has always been logmein as it is so fast.

Yeah VNC comes in many flavours and is platform independant, and best of all is free. Its been a few years since I used it (now in favour of RemoteDesktop) but my favourite was UltraVNC. Ive never used logmein.

Second DameWare; our call center uses it practically every day.

Yeah, that's where I first used it was at work. I liked it so much I loaded it on my PC at home.

CrossLoop has worked fine for me for the limited use I've made of it (basically remote tech support for colleagues, friends and family).
