So, do you need Visual Studio 05 installed on the same box as SQl 2005? I just installed SQL 05 on a db box and I see that there is an installation of VS05, but I think that is only used for SQL projects. I'm not going to do any programming on that box, so do I need VS05 installed there or can I get rid of it.

You don't need it but I do find it useful when you need to do a local compile to debug a problem.

No, it does not have to be all on the same box.
