I asked my ISP to temporarily deactivate my account for 2 months because I was going to the UK. They charge a flat fee for the time your account is deactivated, and activate it again upon request. The numbskulls cancelled my account. After many hours of fighting, and a visit in person, they said it would take a week and asked for a proof of address :wtf: I would have asked them to go to hell and asked my balance money back, except mine is a corporate connection which means I get better service (ha!). They promised to send somebody over, and didn't. When they finally did, my Internet still didn't work. Many support calls later, this dude finally came by and got it working in under 2 minutes! I showed him my appreciation, but all this has left a bad taste in my mouth. X| Avoid Airtel, they are scum. I'm now replying to old forum posts and catching up on email. Feels good to be a netizen again. :)

    Cheers, Vıkram.

BT have just screwed me over once again, in a similar fashion. Got the keys to my lovely new flat yesterday, told BT I wouldn't be out of my old place until saturday, but could they activate my line in the new flat on wednesday (yesterday, had to take a day off). Here's what happened: I wait in the new flat all afternoon (callout time was 1-6pm) with nothing to do so assembled some flatpack stuff. No-one turned up. Went home to the old flat to find they've disconnected me there, but AFAIK wasn't connected at the new flat. Went back to the new flat to find the line was active, even though no-one visited me :wtf: :wtf: but it's going to take a further week to get my home internets back. So I'm now without internets at home, bar my iPhone. :(

Mustafa! How are you, my friend? :) The trip was mostly good, except for the crime in London - it's scary! I've never been afraid to walk outside here at 11 PM, but just reading about the crime in London is bad enough. Youth shot in supermarket gangster-style, woman's stomach split open with a sword by her ex as she left a restaurant, teens killing teens, etc. :wtf: Other than that, London is a very lovely place. I particularly liked the parks. Brighton wasn't very bad, Cambridge was good, and the Isle of Wight was fantastic. I also visited relatives in Retford (Nikolaus Pevsner called it "singularly unattractive", and I agree with him) and Milton Keynes. How is your son? And what news of the worm?

            Cheers, Vıkram.

My son is doing great thank you :D He's zipping away as happy as a pup with a squeaky toy in his walker and he's managed to say "dad" and "mom" (technically the Arabic "baba" and "mama" but still) repeatedly but only when he feels like it which is amusing to say the least :D Nothing new about the worm, its the court holiday and we won't resume hearings till mid September where we'll be just carrying on from there. Other than that, same old same old

Airtel is truly dumb even when it comes to the business of calling cards. They give sky high promises and hoard tall advertisements for hollow cavity service levels.

For some reason I don't remember the fluffy and helpless part. I seem to remember something about you hitting The Developer, razor sharp claws, and pulling out a Radius forcibly. Have you changed that much in the last 24 hours?

Welcome back mate. It's a shame you didn't get in touch while you were here in the UK. I could have arranged a night out for you to remember, well not to remember you'd have been so drunk.

I asked my ISP to temporarily deactivate my account for 2 months because I was going to the UK. They charge a flat fee for the time your account is deactivated, and activate it again upon request. You're in London? I posted before I left for the UK, and a few times from there as well.

:wtf: I know time flies on CP, but your kid is less than a year old, yes? He already says Mom and Dad? The words you mention are certainly familiar, and would be understood by most Indians. In my own Marathi, the word for father is Bapa, although in some dialects they say Baba. But Baba generally means a mystic. The word for mother in many Indian languages is Amma or Maa or Maan (the N at the end is *very* soft; I don't know of any English words that sound the same), but in Marathi it's Aai.

                                      Cheers, Vıkram.

Yeah :) Its not like he says them on command, and I really doubt if he actually grasps their meaning (he turns 6 months on the 5th of September) but I really have my mother and my mother-in-law to thank for this, they keep on repeating the words to him until he probably said it so that he can get them to shut up :D

Depending on the dialect, you'll find the exact same words in use, well not counting the n or I should say I haven't encountered it.
