Which airline to fly

I'll be going from Sydney to Amsterdam for work in a few weeks and need to pick an airline. I'll go business class and my choices are the asian airlines (Cathay Pacific, Malaysian, Singapore etc), Qantas, KLM, British Airlines etc. Anyone have a recomendation or experiance with any of these to share?
Wow you can choose your airline - nice! Real question is what to see and do in Amsterdam? Will you have a bit of spare time? BTW - congrats for your baby!! :beer: I missed your post if there was one...?

I've visited Amsterdam a few times and lived there for almost a year so it's not as exciting this time. Ill spend a week working and stay for the weekend to see some friends before flying home

I've visited Amsterdam a few times and lived there for almost a year so it's not as exciting this time. Ill spend a week working and stay for the weekend to see some friends before flying home

Just make sure you empty your pockets and clean your clothes well before re-entering Australia, lest you make some unwanted canine friends at the airport!!

I highly recommend Singapore Airlines as well. I've flown with them 9 times. Great service, great looking service :-D , well organized, flights are almost always on-time, good food, free alcohol, and lots of entertainment options. Seriously, Economy class feels like Business class.

haha happened once before, felt like I was on an episode of Border Security!
When I flew into NZ a number of years back, I was waiting in line to be processed and knelt down to open my bag that I was carrying (carry-on sized backpack type bag), and when I unzipped it, a sniffer dog appeared from nowhere and shoved its head fully into my bag... I've pulled the back pack off the dogs head and gone "get out of there!!", then smiled at the officer (what else could I do?). Anyway, so the dog walks up and back, up and back, up and back within about 2/3 people either side of me, then next thing, half a dozen officers turn up and take away the bloke standing in front of me and his two friends!! Guess the dog could smell *something* close by, and wanted to check my bag since I was kind enough to open it at snout level - personally I thought he was after my biscuits!! ------- Edit: fixed typo.

Don't know if anyone's mentioned it yet, but SA are very good. I flew Singapore/Europe a lot a few years back; variously into London, Paris and Amsterdam amongst others. Going with SA, I was able to take a flight from Changi to Heathrow in the evening and go straight to the London office on arrival, feeling fresh and rested; and a little bit drunk. BA and Quantas sucked. They had similar flight times but I never felt relaxed (q.v. drunk) enough after their flights. Flying direct into Schiphol does lean towards KLM. However I have had less then satisfactory experiences with them flying to the USofA. I have not used them for the Far East. Mrs Wife flew out once to Singapore via Air France, Business Class, and she said it was very good indeed and she did look very fresh on arrival. This from a woman who hates flying and doesn't drink (much). As I typed that I just rememebered that *I* did Air France once, so they must be good if I can't clearly remember. :rolleyes:

Singapore airlines, unless you can fly Emirites. All South East Asian airlines are good, though (well, except I keep hearing things about bits falling off Malaysian airlines. Maybe I misheard...)

Got to agree with Emirates, their economy was virtually identical to BA business class when I last flew. A friend who works in aircraft maintenance suggests flying ONLY with BA, Quantas, Singapore, Cathay, United (plus one, maybe two others which I forgot (sorry) as there are, it seems, good ways and cheap ways to perform maintenance within the rules! Rich
