Free DNS Hosting???

I need to manage DNS for about 30 domains and I need to do it at no charge. My options are to build my own DNS server and poke it out on the internet or I need to find a company that provides free DNS services. I don't mean DNS lookup such as opendns.org and I mean the free version of what you can get at DYNDNS.ORG. DYNDNS is the go-to provider and they charge a fair price to host DNS but this is on my tab and I cannot pay that rate for 30 domains (this whole thing is a long story so don't ask). I'm just starting to learn that DNS is a very exact science especially for email and anti-spam and I need to set up dedicated DNS for 30 domains and run it on a different server than that which the domains are hosted on (fail-over).
I use freedns[^] myself - very easy to use and Josh (the admin) is very helpful. I pay the few $ for premium so my domains aren't listed - but even if they were (with the free) I can refuse requests for subdomains.

Wouldn't your domain name registrar give you access to manage that?

GoDaddy provides TotalDNS free of charge for all domains. Very slick, no issues. Otherwise everydns.net works well if you're not using GoDaddy/any other host that doesn't provide this for free already.

Anybody aware of a .NET (must be C#) open source DNS server software? I need to be able to run my own DNS server(s) but need to customise/extend the code so as to analise the requests and thus the responces.. cheers..

+1 for everydns.net. I have 6 domains there and things are very easy. Dynamic DNS is not their strong point however.

I believe there is one on CodePlex, but I don't think it's production quality yet.

godaddy.com offers a free service called offsite DNS that allows you to host dns for any domain, not just what is registerd in your account. You can have as many as you want, and it is all free. It is a very reliable and robust DNS service. Supports any type of record I have ever had to use. Which I have found over the years, some providers do not support many types of DNS records.. BaM and Ding to you Network Solutions.

zoneedit.com works great for me.
