IIRC they are only running the first protons round the loop tomorrow, not actually colliding, so we should be OK until the weekend at least.

I don't mean to be a Grammar Nazi, but shouldn't it be "If I were falling off the edge...", rather than "If I was falling off the edge..."? I remember being taught in school that the former is right ("If the war were over tomorrow...*"). Just want to know if I'm right or wrong (or just sanctimonious :-D ). * Let's see who gets the reference right! :-D

      Cheers, Vıkram.

fear of the unknown will always drive people to be irrational around that which they cannot understand. I am sure eventually we will screw ourselves, but not tomorrow. :-D

Brilliant! 5'd. Tank actually makes the mistake of saying "If the war was over tomorrow..."; it's always sounded strange to me.

I've heard enough from the people who want the LHC experiment to be stopped because they think it will cause the world (or even the universe) to end. Having said that, if we do manage to screw ourselves out of existence, here's to you guys! :-D I would have liked to meet more of you, but I'm sure I will. ;)

You still have at least a month to go since they are going to be testing the LHC equipment and function systems (starting this week) before making thier first (of MANY) collision(s)...

What did the negative subatomic particle say to the positive subatomic particle? "Do my bosons give you a hadron?"

1st person singular: "was" I was walking my dog when an old lady hit me. 1st person plural, 2nd person, 3rd person: "were" We were walking along when a penguin came out of nowhere. You were my best friend. They were talking about you.
