Hello all, * DISCLAIMER: This is completely serious... ;) Yesterday one coworker came and said: "Do you have the [na naa nnaaa naaa naaaa naaa...] song? You know my pain... I can now not remove that damned song from my mind but I don't know which one it is... Is there something out there that would be capable to tell it to me? I would not like to start singing that song to all the human beings near to me in my village... who knows I can create a dramatic climate change due to my bad attitudes singing... :sigh: As always thank you in advance... PS: if you want I will write the complete [naaa] thing... ;)

That worked about as well as I expected! Tried it with many songs and it couldn't recognise any and kept suggesting Hey Jude, whatever speed I tapped! Rich

yes, tho it took me a while to remember where i'd seen it, you can check this out: [^][^] it's an amazon s3 mashup that allows you to 'whistle' in the tune and then you just 'wait' for someone to respond to your request with suggestions. it's also quite a good little example for using S3 as well :) jimi

Taking into account the the person singing the song can at least sing, or follow a tune. For the rest of us who are 'vocally' challanged I'd love to see the software that can take some badly muttered and distorted chords and find a song that matches. With my luck - everything from Spice Girls to Abba will be interpreted as "OG the Caveman - Killing His Cat" Take Care All

Coding Coding Coding... Keep those keyboards coding.. RAW CODE!!

If anyone around you has an iPhone, the free Midomi app does just that. You sing into it, and it finds the song. Sometimes, it seems like magic. :-) (Not so much, though, when you're a programmer and you have a pretty good idea on how it's done.)

Do you mean wrong guess or "wrong" in that I came up with Kenny G?

Guessing Kenny G. That's one small step from admitting you know Celine Dion songs.

Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

I'm surprised that no rock-nerd guys have mentioned the original "rock star" video game, "Journey" http://www.klov.com/game_detail.php?game_id=8242[^] Not a fun game, but a hilarious pop-cultural footnote.

Based on your limited description, it could also be "Angel is a Centerfold" by the J. Geils Band. The chorus is like that. (and now I've got THAT song stuck in my head....)

Clearly you need to visit Alternative Search Engines, the one stop shop for unusual searches.... http://www.altsearchengines.com/[^] There are a number of music search engines; can't remember if you can hum the tune to any yet.... ;)
