One problem I have is the inconsistency between the 'Questions' view and the default homepage view, it's different, and logically it should not be. Took me a while to figure out why the site was looking and behaving so different ;P

I told some guy, the bug is not in gcc, but his understanding of the code, and left the resolution of this misunderstanding to the OP. Seems all the users on stackoverflow wants to be spoonfed. Maybe they should call it spoonfed-with-rails.com

If it wasn't for the post earlier[^] about bugs in compilers I would have agreed with you, but maybe someone's modified the gcc source code to automatically insert a bug when it compiles itself.

But don't you have that here too. :) Seriously, as it becomes more popular people will start having their own ideas on how it should behave which will lead to some of the same type of voting issues we see here.

It's easy to defeat captures, you just write a site of dubious content, and provide prospective viewers a quick capture before allowing them access to said dubious content. Only, the capture is not generated by you, it's copied from the target victim site, so when your user solves the presented capture, you forward it directly to your target victims site. Too easy. We need something new and better. (Probably the reason for the 30 second post restriction)

I've been using it during the beta. Works great. You can literally get answers within minutes, if not seconds. It's not all roses, though. The "fastest gun in the west" problem is something Jeff needs to address: people simply answer the fastest and shortest in hopes to be awarded the correct answer, more points, more badges. Many questions aren't truly answered and because some "fastest gun" answer, your question leaves the "unanswered questions" area, causing far fewer folks to look at it, causing you to end up with a question with no good answer.

I can see the website turning into garbage after a while. Soon, cliques will form which will mass-upvote/downvote other people, regardless of the answer. An elite group will soon control the website and the quality of material will be dictated by a few. It happens with most "user-generated content" sites... take Digg for example.

My foremost critique is that it's an overload. It's very hard to filter by tags when there are sixteen billion tags you may be interested in.

Wow. StackOverflow[^] is really addicting. Once you start, you can't stop (trying to) answering questions. Seriously, it seems a cool and useful website.

Yea, it looks cool. I like the concept but google and CP are my home for these kind of things.

Yep, very impressive. I wonder how they managed to get so much traffic in just a couple of days.
