…that song…“You are my American boy…”. No point any more to change the radio station, the song is every where. The ether giving you only three choices: …“You are my American boy…”, commercials, or commercials with “You are my American boy…” for a background. Don’t get me wrong, I like the song, but after couple of weeks living with her I’m starting to experience some mental disorder symptoms, when I hear it…

I know it sounds like a radical solution but you could just turn the radio off. If you're doubtful that this will work consider that I've never heard the song you're talking about, that's right, not once. :-D

            You need better radio stations.

I haven't had the pleasure yet, it would seem :) Although I never bothered connecting up the radio in my car, I'm more than happy with just rotating my own collection of CDs.

That could be said for most American markets. Typically, you have the following formats: Classic Rock (Do I really need to hear Layla again?) Country Hip-Hop/Rap (I guess like Country and Rock, this style is here to stay. :() Alternative (Nothing like post GenX angst) Top-40 I'm talking FM here. Feel free to add more. It's rare for a radio station around here (Dallas/Ft. Worth) to actually have an eclectic play-list. Most stations have straightjacketed themselves into a certain format. When you tune in, you know exactly what you're getting, which is a shame.

There's usually a public radio station or two as well. Sometimes, that's good - the local one here (KRCC out of CO Springs) plays music most of the day, with actual DJs and such. Unfortunately, a fair number of them just run the NPR feed all day - mostly talk radio of one sort or another; from the look of things, that's what you have down in central Texas.

They aren't country, they are pop. When I hear them on the radio I change the station, the problem, the next country station on my presets is usually playing them at the same time. My record is 4 different stations all playing a Rascal Flats song at the same time, I just turn the radio off. I get in the car for drive time, listen to 25 minutes of talk and commercials praying I will get a song before work ... Rascal Flats. I keep 6 CD's in the changer just so I can reliably listen to some actual music. (American Boy does play a lot but at least it is listenable)

                                    That's more effective in public.

There's a difference? :~ It's been almost a decade since i was last forced to listen to country music radio, but near as i could tell at the time, the music consisted of top40 lyrics + steel guitar + really fake southern accents.

You're right. These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets.
