Let's say I drank more than I ate on the weekend, and yesterday had a somewhat unhealthy stomach. What is the quickest way to restore body nutrients before beginning a proper diet? I mean stuff that will be absorbed quickest, and not just a multivitamin - I mean total nutrition. There must be some things that are digested and 'operational' quicker than others?

Banana Milkshake! Seriously, but it must be made with real bananas and full fat milk. Alcohol absorbs Potassium and Sodium, and these are used in synaptic neuro transmission, consequently, the message do not get through as quickly or efficiently. This is called Being Drunk. Bananas are full of both, and will restore the balances swiftly as it is swiftly absorbed and digested by the body. Also the liquid in the milk helps restore lower cellular fluid levels, the fat in the milk provides and instant energy hit, and the trace minerals and protiens help repair damage caused by the overindulgence. Also the milk acts as a acid reducer, easing damage and pain the gastro/colonic system. Follow this up with poached egg on toast, the toast is the fibre needed to help the peristaltic movements of your food, and aids digestion, and the egg acts as a binding agent as well as provinf more protien and nutrients. Finally, Lots of Water, for obvious reasons. I speak as an Expert on Such Matters!

I might give this a try saturday morn. Heading back to uni for the main night of freshers week and I haven't been drunk in about 6 months. This could get ugly.

Thanks, but I am really not a milf milk person - but I love bananas, and just maybe I'll have a breakfast for lunch. I am far away from a hangover - even yesterday, but when I crave food, without much true appetite, I know my body needs restoring.

        I have no doubt. :)

A human being is part of the whole called by us universe, a part limited in time and space. We experience ourselves, our thoughts and feelings as something separate from the rest. A kind of optical delusion of consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free ourselves from the prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty… The true value of a human being is determined primarily by the measure and the sense in which they have obtained liberation from the self. … We shall require a substantially new manner of thinking if humanity is to survive. I don't get classic hangovers from hell (no headache, no nausea), but I do feel like hell, and a beer for lunch helps every time. ;P

Be careful with milk - it takes a lot of effort to digest so maybe something else first.

I'm soy milk all the way if I have to use milk. No worries there. Cow's milk is meant to be drunk by baby cows.

I'll be embarking on a regimen of Ensure later, after pay day, because the powder is hellish expensive, and I don't see any shakes on the shelves.

Home made vegetable soup in home made chicken broth is one of my specialties. If you're looking for goo in a plastic wrapped container from the better living through chemicals people (aka the modern food industry) I can't help you and may your deity of choice have mercy on your soul.

Home made vegetable soup in home made chicken broth is one of my specialties. If you're looking for goo in a plastic wrapped container from the better living through chemicals people (aka the modern food industry) I can't help you and may your deity of choice have mercy on your soul.

I actually had a canned vegetable and chicken soup for breakfast - felt it would be a better all rounder than the plain energy+vitamins of normal cereals. Canned food does still retain some goodness.

I wasn't looking for a food substitute, but a supplement that would assist until a good meal was digested and its nutrients active in my body. It's worth noting that when starving people are admitted to hospital, they are given drips before soup. ;P

I opted for a large Greek salad and a Guinness. How more healthy can you get? ;P
