You should count yourself lucky,if you enjoyed yourself at the job. I personally don't see myself spening more than ten years at anyjob. I can't find a job that i look forward to getting up and going to everyday. All the jobs i have had are the ones i wakeup, hoping i get hit by a truck on my way there. happy birthday:).

Congratulations for having two great things with you: 1. Desire to learn and 2. An understanding wife I have only first one with me right now. No luck with second one ;) BTW, what was better, time before marriage or after that (as programmer)? Cheers, Junkie

I have the freedom to design my apps and write them in whatever language fits the task. They supply the hardware and software I need and pay for my books and even my phone line at home and my isp:-D Down side I am on call 24/7 but after so many years it becomes part of your life.

Happy birthday man! In my opinion you are very lucky. Not because you are a programmer ;) but for having shared your life with someone you love. Personally, I would die 30 years in a job! Hell, 6 months and I am already getting bored ;) Pankaj Without struggle, there is no progress

I remember coding into a machine that output a plastic/paper tape that was feed to a card puncher to output card decks. Had to handcheck all code before entering it.
