North of 60[^], yeah. Canada's been known to create some pretty good television shows. I especially loved all of the great Canadian children shows growing up. I didn't even realize that they were Canadian-only at the time, but there were some really great, imaginative, educational, and just plain silly shows produced in Canada, and I now realize how fortunate I was to have grown up with them. :) I miss Mr. Dressup. :(

unfortunately I didnt see them I can guess they were great ;) ,but you forgot a very good TV series ;P "PSI Factor: Chronicles of the Paranormal"[^] I saw some cases that Dan Aykroyd told about them on the real world.

I'd love to see that. We toyed with the idea of outsourcing when I was flat out with work 24/7 last year. I thought that it would make sense to pay someone to do the more straightforward work, and I could work between projects doing the complex stuff. It was a disaster. Similar story, with our core tasks taking up all of our resources, we investigated having some auxiliary tasks outsourced (to the Ukraine in our case, via referral from an associated - not rival - business). After taking the time to fully specify the task, we were quoted a fairly exorbitant amount. When we said, "no, that's too much" we were told that they could do X amount of the work for 1/3 of the original quote. After looking closely at it, X was about 1/3 of the work anyway. No Dice. In the end we postponed the task long enough to be able to contract a local (we're in Australia) on an hourly basis. We already knew he had excellent skills and he got the whole job done in 1/2 the quoted time for 1/5 the quoted price. Final analysis, outsourced labour might be cheap but local skill/talent can end up saving you more in the end. Not saying that all o/s outsource firms lack talent but if you're separated from your development team by an ocean or two and a language barrier, it's much more difficult to evaluate the skill level of the team you're working with. In the grander scheme of things though, the fault lies with bean counters who make decisions based on quoted fees and fail to consider other risks, pitfalls and administrative overhead, in short the total cost of remote management.

I had to meet with some people about some subtitling work, but that was only for two days, so I added a couple of weeks to give myself time to enjoy it. I have to go home, tomorrow :( I don' wanna!!!
