I still remember having to write your own code in FORTRAN rather than be a cut and paste merchant being pampered by colour coded Intellisense - ahh proper programming - those were the days :)

Roger Moore: a bit too camp for the role. Sean Connery: a man of his time but good in the role. Pierce Brosnan: epitomised Bond. Daniel Craig: a man of his time and pretty damn good in the role. Timothy Dalton: very wooden; never really fitted. George Lazenby: should have stuck to flogging chocolate. David Niven: honourable mention: might have been a better choice than Connery but Casino Royale (the original) was awful. Barry Nelson: the first but the accent would have been wrong. (I am assuming that he didn't try to do that awful parody of an English accent that Americans are so good at). Overall I would say that Daniel Craig is filling Bond's shoes very well.

Many people agree though that he was the most like the original Flemming character - someone who you wouldn't remember having seen, unless of course he had blown up your secret underground facility and foiled your plans for world domination. Rich

I hate to break it to you - James Bond is a fictional character, and Sean Connery is a fictional Scotsman.

They were all obviously suitable, but as for best, Connery! Moore was ok, he had to be different from Connery, so went with the Humour. Lazenby sucked, Dalton sucked, Brosnan good, Criag - jury still out, but too blonde probably. Barry Nelson and Bob Holness were good Bond's too, although David Niven and Woody Allan both sucked.
