What about the rhythmic pulse of a hammer and anvil? Or is that too much like heavy metal for you?

The kind that comes out of noise-cancelling headphones is quite interesting.

You see, wire telegraph is a kind of a very, very long cat. You pull his tail in New York and his head is meowing in Los Angeles. Do you understand this? And radio operates exactly the same way: you send signals here, they receive them there. The only difference is that there is no cat. Albert Einstein

I tried those with some rap, but they didn't work. I could still hear it.

I've recently started listening to Spoon in the past month or so. I think your list has helped me decide what Spoon album to buy next. Thanks.

Maybe. :-O I was there in (I think) 1990 - saw Queenrsyche doing the whole of Mindcrime (seeing 70,000 people shouting "Revolution!" at the same time is just freaky, in a cool sort of way), Metallica and countless others. I think I was there in '89 and '92 as well - not sure of the exact year though. Fun times. :)
