Anchorite lives in the bushes : Ancho -> Dried version of Poblano pepper perhaps? : rite -> right? but spelled differently Quietly living : Anchorite I also might be waaaay off :) as this is my first time guessing yours.

IIRC the word 'perhaps' indicates an anagram so I used an online anagram helper to find 9 letter words out of the phrase 'quietly lives in the bushes' and elusively was the best match I could find. You said you couldn't see how I arrived at it - does that mean it's wrong...!? ;)
