what about this world wide financial crisis?

what do you think of this financial crisis.. you wouldnt expect a great nation with stable financial strategies can be the start or the cause of this worldwide market meltdown... how it happens? why now? with all of the high tech computerization still things like economic worldwide meltdown can't be detected or anticipated?:rose:

Greed. American lenders handing out a bucket full of money to people who had no chance of ever repaying it in order to get their bonuses. The whole world crashes because of the greedy US banking system.(Aided and abetted by every other banking system, I am not Savlon on this). It won't last long, about a year to 18 months at most.

This topic belongs in the Soapbox. It's going to get heated, and isn't suitable material for the lounge because it will soon devolve into political discussion.
Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

Any banking system that let people spend more than they have or can repay will eventually have a crisis (small / big / global / local). I was in the US a couple months ago and was shocked at how easy people can get a loan, and the fact almost everything is done on credit over there. Things will get stable again but it's going to take time (my estimate 1-2 years).

I think that the free world wanted it this way :)

What nation are you talking about? Greatness doesn't keep your economy stable, production does. I'm pretty sure that you're not talking about the United States. They haven't had a stable economy since Reagan.

Greed, as said before. The best explanation I could find is here; http://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?msg=2757802#xx2757802xx

why now?
Because it was due. Imagine putting a bucket under a dripping faucet. Watch it drip for three years, and ask yourself "why now" when it overflows.

Reread the explanation of what happened. We can't predict when it is going to happen, because we don't know all the variables. We do know that it will happen again, thanks to basic calculus.

It's a mix of Cockney Rhyming Slang and Polari. Parley the Polari? ye Jinks? (Although Polari is a kind of homosexual underworld lingo, so I don't speak too much of it!) Polari Link[^] It is quite interesting if you like languages, which I do.

Actually, that isn't quite it. American (and British banks) made large pools of money avaialble for mortgages and came up with ever more bizarre vehicles into which to place this bucket of mortgages so as to spread the money as far as possible betting that the number of defaulters would be low. What they didn't bank on was unscrupulous mortgage agents who lied their way to fat commissions and got approvals for peopel who patently were never going to be able to keep up even if the rate went up fractionally or who didn't care that today's low rate mortgage would require vastl;y inflated payments when it came time to move to another mortgage or where the rates went up at the end of an introductory period. The whole system was doomed. However, the next big thing will probably be Credit Default Swaps.

Yep, totally agree! Of course, Greed and lack of morals and ethics plays a large roll.

I was referring to the "you wouldnt expect a great nation with stable financial strategies can be the start or the cause of this worldwide market meltdown..." bit. That is clearly delusional.

My uncle used to work on cruise ships and told me about a language that the Gay guys on the boats used to speak, I'd completely forgotten about it till today. So now i know 2 people who speak this language and you both claim to be straight! Russ
