So you're not interested in our consumer electronics smuggling/street racing event. I understand.

It's next week, so if you'll be there, come see us in the exhibit hall (booth #1101) -- we'd love to say 'hello' and give you some free stuff. (www.microsoftpdc.com) Also, if you're going, send me an email response -- we may have a small event for which I may have a few open invitations (was that tentative enough)? jeff Jeff Hadfield The Code Project

... sound of crickets chirping ... ALL CORPORATE TRAVEL IS NOW FORBIDDEN Unless of course you're a member of the Blackberry-and-hair-gel set (in other words, a salesman). Although, even in the best of times, I wouldn't have been paid to go. I would have been more than welcome to take some vacation time, pay my own travel expenses, and then use what I learned on the job, of course. Chintzy buggers.

I went there several years ago. I stayed at a very old motel with in walking distance. At the time I think thiere was a horror movie called 13 ghosts or 13 rooms or something, my hotel had the picture ad of the disolving women's face painted on it. My room was one of the eyballs. I could hear the gun fire at night. After one of the PDC's for the day ended I went running south (I believe its the staples center) got lost, people looked at me like I did not belong thier (out-of-towner-look) and I did not speak Spanish. After 2 hours or so I found my way back. Some day perhaps I will go back, like when it's in Vegas. :-O

Have you considered a career as a rent-a-date for Hollywood starlets? I hear the fringe benefits are wonderful, if you can afford a few weeks at the Betty Ford Clinic and some antibiotics.

I've never been to L.A. and I am afraid if I go I will be lured into the secretive world of illegal street racing and consumer electronics smuggling.

After my experiences the last time I visited the US (I know, O'Hare is known for being crap) I'd be more concerned about subconsciously winding up US Immigration while going through the airport. :-O Unlike UK customs* I suspect they wouldn't laugh about it. * I once gave them a potted history/commentary on every bottle I had in my luggage after they pulled me over following a beer run to Ostend. After 30 seconds they just told me "oh, p**s off" and let me go... :-\

Yes, but at least it's warm there and you won't need gloves.

                                          cheers, Chris Maunder
