Let me ask you a straight question to all the Linux.com users. Is linux good enuff? First i hear that it is free software. We kno that enything free sucks. My office has free coffee which sucks. So Linux does suck. The software / installation / maintainance all sucks. But windows xp / vista is very stable and secure. They have frequent releases of service packs and vital security updates. All because u pay for it. So i advice all Linux users to stop believing in free and buy Windows / MAC OS X. Let me know ur views on it

Put this way Vista sucks and KDE 4.0 sucks. The differences are 1, You can still use KDE 3.x as it's included on the same disc. You don't have to pay more money to use older more stable software. 2, KDE 4 will get better with later iterations of the product 4.1 is already out and 4.2 is not far away. Vista will not be improved. The changes that Vists requires to be a functional operating system instead of the sack of crap that it currently is will be implemented in Windows 7 and you being stupid will pay for this as if it is a full release of a brand new product. Sucker.

You're either an idiot or a troll. Actually, looking at your previous posts, I'd say you're both.

You have got to be kidding. A couple of years ago I was re-installing XP on a machine in our lab, and forgot to disconnect the network cable. Before the setup was finished the machine was infected. The company had a well-known worm running around inside our firewall that the IT guys had a tough time getting rid of. I ended up restarting the install from scratch, this time with the network cable unplugged. I didn't put the machine back on the network until I had SP2 and our antivirus stuff installed from known-good media.

You are wrong, but don't ask for it, it is free so you can try it for yourself. Presuming that in the way you are doing it demonstrates that you have only a partial view of what you talk about... Linux has it's good things, our main server is running RHEL5 and it works like charm using low resources and working perfectly without errors, and it has several good things like the possibility to configure everything using text files... this means that I can format the computer and reinstall it from scratch and only replacing those files I'll have everything running again...

Oy, me too, when I was building my current machine I made the mistake of trying to get updates from the Web before I had turned on the Windows Firewall and installed antivirus -- my mistake was immediately apparent and I hade to wipe the disk again and start all over.

I had the same thing at work in a hospital system. The second you would plug the machine into the network it would be infected.

I have seen this happen on a network as well, the worm kept jumping from one computer to another - unfortunately what infected my PC was also a worm and I am crossing my fingers that it has been eliminated - I use Avast, Spybot and Spywareblaster which are pretty darn good at sniffing out malware.

I accept that XP is stable and secure. But is really Vista too proves like that for you?

Cancer does a lot of nasty things with your life, as Linux does them too, you don't pay to get cancer, as you don't pay to get Linux, so cancer is free in the same sense as Linux is. :sigh:
