Help me with my American Accent

Hey big brothers and sisters (preferably Americans), could you help me in evaluating my American accent (not that I'm assuming I have one)? I'm trying to train myself to sound one so I could be a call center agent. So here it is. By the way, the script is from the American Accent Training book by Ann Cook. Thank you. :)

The first thing i noticed is that you do not stress t and d syllables anywhere near enough. We hammer on t and d - the tips of our tongues slam against the hard palate right behind our front teeth. When you say "to", your tongue should be a valve, releasing pressure, followed by a drawn-out "oooo" through puckered lips.

You're right. These facts that you've laid out totally contradict the wild ramblings that I pulled off the back of cornflakes packets.

I watched the episode of 30 days where a guy who lost his job to outsourcing travels to India and works in a call centre. Is that really considered a good job in India ?

Sorry, but after being laid off for so many months...plus I had to cancel two credit cards because I could not understand the accent of the customer service people.

and the Indians really needed them before you. I was not attempting to blame you, you should take whatever opportunities come your way, it's the big corporations that move the jobs around, you're just making the most of your local situation.

AND SO DO AMERICANS. That's what makes me so upset. With the economy and everyday local news saying "Company X laid off Y employees" it makes me LIVID that when I call into my account that is an American "bank" I get someone who can't properly pronounce my name because of all the vowels.

Yup you're right and I really don't have a choice 'coz I need the money - they pay call center agents here higher than the programmers.
