In a couple of weekends time I have a pressing need for a bucketload of 1980's Rock and Pop music. I don't have too much of my own on CD (12" vinyl instead) and after a trip to a local music store today (to get Pink's latest for my 8 year old daughter) I have discovered that I can get songs of my choice burn't to CD for about AUD$1.89 per track. These are also (from what I can tell) DRM free, so I can rip them to MP3 and have a laaptop in the corner generating the music. I don't have a ton of money to spend on the music (alcohol, alcohol, snacks, alcohol, alcohol, alcohol, food and alcohol are the priority) so I want to ensure I get the best value for money. Is there anywhere else on the net or in store that I can get a better deal financially? Also I need some suggestions for the music, I'm getting old, thee memory is failing and while I can sing along to all the songs I have bugger all idea of the song title or band in many cases. The failing memory knows I have to look for the following bands, I'm looking for suggested songs for the bands I list and also for bands and songs I don't list. AC/DC Aerosmith Billy Iol Bon Jovi Bruce Springsteen Cold Chisel Dire Straits Dragon Georgia Satellites Hunters and Collectors Jimmy Barnes KISS Kylie Minogue + Motley Crue * Poison * Queen * Rose Tattoo Talking Heads * The Angels Van Halen So, why do Josh and Ashley get a mention in the title? Well, they live in Sydney and turned up to the Sydney Code Project get together piss up (unlike those dodgy Brisbane based bastards). So fellas, what are you doing around 13:00 Saturday 15-11-2008? I know what I'm gonna to be doing. * Got at least one album on CD from these bands, probably got a couple of other 80's music but will need to get into the garage and have a look for them. + I'd give her some.

Kiss? You've got to be kidding. OK, here are my album recommendations... AC/DC - Dirty Deed Done Dirt Cheap - Highway to Hell - Back in Black Rolling Stones - Sticky Fingers - Let it Bleed - Exile on Main Street - Goats Head Soup ZZ Top - Eliminator Lynyrd Skynyrd - first four albums Fleetwood Mac - Rumors - Fleetwood Mac Cream - Disraeli Gears OK, so I'm not sticking to the '80s - but hey, the best music is from the late '60s and '70s.

As you're having a party you're going to need some Status Quo, looking at your current mix I'd add some Belinda Carlyle or Bananarama for balance and some Madness, perfect :-D

Jesus, my Missus mentioned them, I told her I wouldn't mention them here for a million dollars.

Personally I'd throw in some rather large doses of Rush Iron Maiden Hawkwind New Model Army Stiff Little Fingers while Whitesnake Saxon Motorhead Blue Oyster Cult Electic Light Orchestra would compliment the list. You might also consider Transvision Vamp The Fuzztones ( if u can find it ) Dead Kennedy's Alice Cooper

Maybe if you were born in the 70's... Worst thing about 80's music is it was (99% anyway) all so derivative...

Unlike all other music that was completely original. No evolution there.

Oh come on - of course all music is derivative to some extent, but you cannot compare the originality of the music of the 60's (in particular) with that of the 80's....

Maybe not, but I wasn't around to experience it when it was original nor the copious amounts of drugs ingested to enhance it.

Pawn shop, thrift shop, second-hand music store. That should get you a bunch of "Best of 1982" and similar CD's for about 2 or 3 bucks each. Way cheaper that buying them online and you'll get most of the songs you would be looking for anyway. Cheers, Drew.

Maybe not, but I wasn't around to experience it when it was original nor the copious amounts of drugs ingested to enhance it.

I'd give her ALL! She is the same age as me, but slightly better looking. I would date Danni too, but just to get one step closer to Kylie!

Mate, I'd look for those compilation CD's they have in bins at the front of most music stores. "Songs for the Aussie Bloke" is one of my favorites. You'll probably find things like "80's party mix volume 4352" Transvision Vamp get +++++ from me. Wendy Wendy Wendy Look for "I want your love" and "Baby I dont care"
