Hey Friends I was wondering whether microsoft should have choosen a better name to the new os? Windows Vista or Windows XP were good names, is'nt it? I hope better than windows 3.1 or windows 98 or windows 2000?

How about Bob? I know Microsoft Bob has bad memories for some, but I'm sure that it could be rehabilitated - and it could be codenamed "Kate".

Deja View - the feeling that you've seen this post before.

They will add the prefix in this case.

Windows 7 is nice an easy. Personally, I like the year number way of numbering versions, e.g. Visual Studio 2008.

Temporal agreement mismatch: "were" and "isn't" do not match the same chronological period.

Problem with the year naming method is perception by non-clued-up users. "Windows 2009? But it is 2010, where do I get Windows 2010? They don't have Windows 2010? Wow, surely they should have an update this year? No? Hmmm, oooh look, Mac OS XI." I've had a similar conversation over Office. "Paul, do you have Office 2008, I can only see 2007?" Obviously it is advantageous when the version matches the year, then people are without doubt that they have the latest version. But it only works in the current year. Windows 7 is just Windows 7. If there is a new version hopefully it is Windows 8.

          cheers, Paul M. Watson.

Windows 7 is a great name. Vista was an awful name. Obviously by the same guy who named Windows Azure. XP meant nothing, at least to me it didn't, so it didn't offend or appeal or anything. It was just XP.

              cheers, Paul M. Watson.

because folks are convinced Vista is still broken, therefore Microsoft will bow to everyone's desire and publish a new version that they can charge everyone for again.... Sometimes the customer IS right in their eyes. :) all new version, more money, MS will be happy to sell a SP2 of Vista rather than giving it for free... it is what the public wants.
