    I'd be a pilot

What sort of Pilot? Palm Pilot, Pontius Pilot, Pilot Whale, Pilot Hole. Sorry getting silly now. BTW did you ever find a source for the gloves you were looking for?

What would you do if you couldn't program professionally anymore to make a living?

My first choice would be to become a teacher. The few times I've filled that role, I've really enjoyed it. My second option would be technical writer. I'm reasonably good at it, and like it enough that I could do it for a living. It's a little difficult to imagine circumstances that would render my programming skills unemployable and yet would leave the rest of my faculties intact.

A contractor I replaced left professional development because he got burned out of it. I'm wondering what the signs are.

Yes, I do now own a pair of gloves. Yet I am only here for two more weeks ... and then maybe six in January. This kind of pilot: http://www.pilotcareercentre.com/APilotsLifeDetail.asp?APLID=124[^]

I became a real pilot in August. A few hundred more hours and I will be a legal commercial pilot. It will be fun.

Jolly well done Fraid it's too late for me. Eyes shot, Knees crumbling, mind going. Now where was I? Why am I standing in the kitchen with the fridge door open and the cat in my hands?

Who says I do now. Perhaps I program amateurishly, or perhaps I do it rakishly. To answer your question, I'd do something else. I'd possibly put more effort into music than I have the time to do now. If I had the time, I'd love to get a PhD in Astrophysics.
