I second that. I have a 8 month old godchild (my brothers child). And just can't understand how someone could do anything to hurt a baby. I'd give my life to protect him (yes I mean that).

Its been huge news here for the past week or more, and yes it is truly horrifying how humans can do that to any living thing let alone a baby. Unfortunatly no amount of leglislation will stop this from happening again. Its been barely 5 years since the last time this london borough was in the spotlight for a similar case that "slipped through the net". Lets just hope whatever prison guard is looking after them knows how to boil a kettle - and I dont mean to make a nice cup of tea!

This is disgusting. To see that a human, for want of a better word, would do and be so inhumane to anything alive, much less a child one that is yet incapable of fending for itself or reaching out for help other than screaming its lungs out in an attempt to alert the world that it is in need of aid, such base humans do not deserve a life in my opinion. Stuffing them in a meat grinder is too good for them. I honestly cannot think of a proper judgment. As the father of an 8 month old, I would willingly and without a second thought to my well-being do anything in my power to protect him as I would for any other child out of compassion. I am sick to my stomach.

I will not read it. I am a cynical, hardbitten, lived-in guy. I have seen awful things over the years, and I cannot bear to read about what they did to that poor child. It brings me close to tears. These Fuckers need to be left in a room with some really hard people and have done to them what they did to him.

As our society no longer uses the death sentence for these sort of people, all we have to do is put them in a prison and let the other inmates know who they are and why they are there. Even hardened criminals don't like child killers - I'm sure they would deal with the situation effectively. Of course we'll get some namby-pamby do-gooder saying that they should be kept in solitary confinement "for their own safety". Nah - let them be hideously tortured, mutilated and finally terminated with an excess of prejudice.
My new favourite phrase - "misdirected leisure activity"

Exactly. This has been going on since the dawn of time and I expect it always will. What it does do is give the hand-wringing "think of the children" brigade another opportunity to bring in yet more constricting and intrusive legislation to further pry into our lives.

Actually the legislation already exists to have prevented this from happening, but the one social worker was ignored even after several letters were written, and police were ignored even after saying they didn't think the child would be safe. Those responsible in Harringay Council should face charges and there should be no more of the Political Correctness bollocks that helped to cause this.

Revenge perhaps is what society demands. A conviction and sentence in a court of Criminal Law should legally satisfy societies demands. Unless you are suggesting adoption of some kind of "Eye for an eye" judgement, in which case, that in a "civilised" country will never happen.
